How to sign in to your practice

Set up your user account
After signing up for a new EMR, admins can invite additional users to their system.
Invited users will receive an email in their inbox from OpenCoreEMR.
The email will contain two links:
- A one-time use account set up link
- Sign-in page
Account setup
- Click on the “Set up your account” link.
- Enter your email address. This much match the email address that invite was sent to.
- After your email is confirmed, you will be required to setup 2-factor authentication to secure your account with a time-based one-time password (TOTP).
- Use an authenticator app of your choice.
- Scan the QR code or manually enter the key
- Enter the 6-digit code
- Set your password
- If you opt out of setting your password, then you will receive an email with a sign in link, similar to a magic link.
Recommendation: Use a password manager to generate a unique, strong password. For ease of signing, use the password manager to store your email username, password, and TOTP.
Logging in
- Go to your sign-in page link.
- Enter your email address, password, and 6-digit TOTP code.
Bookmark and save your sign-in page link. This link is unique to your EMR. You can find the link your invite email. If you’re logged into your EMR, the link is also found by clicking on your User Profile in the upper right hand corner and selecting Your sign-in page.
Reset password
- From your login page, click Forgot password?
- Enter your email address.
- A password reset link email will be sent if there is an existing account matching this email address.
FAQ
What do I do if I didn’t get any emails?
Common reasons why you may not see your emails:
- Not delivered yet - Some emails may also take a few minutes to arrive.
- Caught by spam - Check your spam folder.
- Got lost in the inbox - Search your inbox for “OpenCoreEMR” in case it got missed.
- Incorrect email - Confirm the email address is correct. If you did not receive an invite email, check with your admin that they sent the email to the correct address.
What password manager can I use?
See this Wikipedia article for a list of common password managers. Some password managers are free, standalone service (e.g. Bitwarden) or may also come natively with your device or operating system (e.g. Apple Passwords, Google Password Manager)
Some password managers also offer multiple multi-factor authentication support. You can also use a standalone authentictor. See this Wikipedia article for common OTP applications.
