An Overview of the Patient Portal

The Patient Portal allows your patients to have a secure, controlled access point to view their own health care information. The Patient Portal also allows them to communicate with their provider in a HIPAA compliant way. This guide will walk you through the patient portal and what information is available to them.

Elements of the Dashboard

• Clinical Documents - Your patient can view formal medical documents that have been generated by their provider.
• Appointments - From this screen your patient can see current appointments, schedule a new appointment, or view past appointments.
• Make Payment - This screen allows your patient to make a payment. See this article for specifics on making a payment.
• Secure Messaging - Secure Messaging is allows your patient to communicate with providers. This looks like a traditional email client.
• Health Snapshot - The Health Snapshot brings up your patient’s immunization records, a list of current medications, active prescriptions, a medical allergy list, current problems list, and recent lab results.
• Profile - Here your patient can edit their profile.
• Billing Summary - Bring up a billing summary. Your patient can enter a start and end date to create a view of all billing events between two periods of time.
• Medical Reports - Your patient can view a summary of care, download the summary of care, create a customized medical history report, or download medical record documents.
• Settings - Your patient can setup their digital signature for signing clinical documents, update login credentials, or change application settings in the portal
• Help - Brings up text information similar to the data found in this guide.
• Logout - Securely log out. Make sure your patients do this at the end of their session. Forgetting to Logout could leave their information vulnerable to other individuals.
